Scalp Psoriasis: Symptoms and Treatment Image
Psoriasis is a condition of the skin which is associated with causing circular, red patches on the skin. After these red patches occur, a layer of white scales build on the reddened zones. These scales many times become extremely thick and they require treatment to be eliminated. When psoriasis occurs on the head, it is called scalp psoriasis. It may lead to hair loss if not treated appropriately. In some cases, the hair loss can be permanent. This may happen when the hair follicles were damaged. It is estimated that around 50% of the 7.5 million of Americans who suffer from psoriasis have it on their heads.

If you suffer from permanent hair loss caused by psoriasis, no dot worry: a hair transplant in Istanbul can offer the solution to this issue, rendering extremely natural looking and permanent results.

Symptoms of scalp psoriasis described by our hair transplant physicians in Turkey

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, scalp psoriasis can occur anywhere on the scalp. It is also possible for it to cover the entire head. The scalp psoriasis symptoms can be comprised of:

•    Dry scalp: the head skin can become so dry, that it cracks and bleeds;
•    Itching: it is one of the most common symptoms of scalp psoriasis. The itching could be mild or more intense, even to the point where it interrupts every day activities or sleep;
•    Bleeding: When scratching, this may cause the scalp skin to bleed;
•    Soreness or a burning feeling: The scalp could feel very sore or it could burn. Our hair transplant surgeons in Turkey can offer more details on this type of treatment;
•    Hair loss: scratching the head skin or eliminating by force the scale could lead to hair loss. In some cases, as mentioned before, it could be permanent.
